Hello,
my name is Machiko. I am a Japanese teacher.
Pleased to meet you.
My hobby is the Shikoku Pilgrimage.
On this page, I would like to share some pictures of my pilgrimage, and I’d like to introduce some easy, often used Japanese words.
I think these Japanese words will certainly be useful for your own pilgrimage.
So far I have made the pilgrimage three times by car and motorbike.
Now I am on my fourth pilgrimage.
I have never made the pilgrimage on foot.
One day, I would like to try it on foot.
Goodbye - sayōnara - さようなら

And a further text in Japanese, for all those who have been learning the language for a while. And the English translation:
See you - mata aimashō - またあいましょう

See you - jā, mata - じゃあ、また

Take care - Be careful - kiotsukete - きをつけて
Here is the 7th temple and the Japanese words to be used to wish the safety of others.
Are you interested in Kanji characters?
The Kanji character for “十(juu)” in the 7th temple, 十楽寺 (Juurakuji), means “10”. Just cross two lines. Easy, isn’t it?
The Roman numeral “X” is also 10. Both are just crossed. They are similar, aren’t they?
Take care - Be careful - kiotsukete - きをつけて
Take care - Be careful - okiotsukete - をきをつけて

Good luck - Keep it up - ganbatte - がんばって
This post is about Kumadaniji the 8th temple and what to say when encouraging someone.
This year, I made the pilgrimage to Tokushima Prefecture just in time for the cherry blossom season.
As I was walking toward the massive gate of Kumadaniji, the 8th temple, I saw a shining curtain of cherry blossoms behind it. It was beautiful and took my breath away. It was one of the most memorable sights of the pilgrimage.
